Future Projects
Other proposed projects where we'd love volunteer energy and expertise to help us include:
- Ways to honor Tom Binford after whom Binford Boulevard was named. His widow is helping us with ideas for scholarships, public art along Binford, possibly a play or professional story teller telling Tom's story to school children.
- Funding a study of the BRAG area to determine pedestrian and bicycle access throughout the neighborhoods, retail areas, Binford Boulevard itself, and Community North to connect to the Monon and Skiles Test Park.
- Developing a Farmer's Market that would be held monthly on Sunday afternoons on the southwest side of Binford/E75 at Stanley under the trees. Local artists and craftsmen, organic producers, entertainment, etc. would be available. This would be a fund raiser for BRAG to cover the $60,000-75,000 of maintenance costs for all the plants along Binford.
- Holding arts exhibits and cultural events in Community North's new community center.
- Securing grants for urban tree projects, neighborhood improvements, etc.
- Continuing communications between all neighborhoods and businesses through the BRAG website www.binford71.org and email distribution lists.
- Continuing communications with land owners to ensure that new businesses reflect the needs of residents and workers in the area and that these new businesses thrive.
- Development of a business resource directory for all residents to understand the depth and breadth of the 250-300 businesses in the BRAG area that extends from Hague Road to Allisonville, and from E82 down to Kessler Boulevard.
